I have a Surefire 6PL inbound.  What mods, mounts and such are essential for AR rail use?  I am thinking of a Malkoff M61 drop in.

The Malkoff M61 is half the battle now you just need to decide what style mount you need... do you need on offset mount or do you want to keep it inline at 3, 6 or 9 o'clock?

Larue LT707 QD mount(Inline) and a TNVC Q5 lamp (256 Lumin for 2+ hours runtime)LED upgrade... I have my LIght set up at 9 OC so I can hit the tmeporary on button with my thumb while gripping the VFG. The Q5 drop in lamp is awsome. Has a brutal blinding hotspot and the corona lights up a room.

The Larue mount is the best

If it is the latest version it will have the one piece KX4 head. A M61 won't fit but the KX4 head is much brighter and makes a good basic weapon light due to the heavt duty spring. You will want a click tail cap. Daniel Defense and Vltor make a nice offset mount.  We have them. Let me know if you need pics.

Is the malkoff M61completely drop in on the 6P led.? Also how does it stack up against the TNVC TX-4 conversion head?

I just cant decide which way to go on a 6P led.

Thanks

As I posted above the new production 6P/9P/G2/G3 LED Surefires have a different head. The head and reflector do not come apart so a drop in won't work. If you are going to use a drop in order a 9P Original. Link below.

Well i have a 6PL and the head does come apart from the reflector unit. I don't know which SF model you are referring.

Some light???

As stated . The new production 6PL has the new KX4 head that does not come apart. All made from now on will have that head. It has 50% more output so it does a good job out of the package. The KX4 head also has a beefy spring. With most drop ins you remove the outer spring making them more susceptible to compression under recoil. We will have the KX4 head available separately next week.

Im reffering to the older 6PL. Are the M61 completely drop in on the older 80 lumen 6PL's? And are they an option compared to the TNVC's TX-4 Heads?

Yes it's a drop in for the old p6l, reading is fundamental.

I have the older P6 with the M60 drop in and it is a nice light for the money. I ordered the VTAC offset mount as well.

Funny you should ask.  I'm sitting here right now playing "swap the lights".  The scariest (i.e. bad-ass bright) light I have is the "old" 6P with TNVC's TX-4 head and adapter.  I also added a Surefire XM07 tailcap (clicky button + tapeswitch).  I have a few other Surefires with the Malkoff M-60 drop-ins, and they're very good, high quality lights.  Either one will work great, and they both fit the 6P.  The Malkoff has a slightly tighter spot, but virtually no spill.  The TX-4 has a slightly larger, but intense spot, and a large, perfect spill.  Personally, I'd go with the TX-4 and adapter.

As far as mounts, all I use is LaRue.  The only choice is either an offset or inline mount (or a double).  I've tried the others and they're OK, but (IMHO) the LaRue stuff is worth every penny.  You know it'll fit perfectly, won't break and do what it's supposed to do.  I can swap lights, scopes, optics, etc. and only have to deal with one system.  If LaRue doesn't have a mount for it, I don't need it.
