mine is a vtac 1 inch mount tightened all the way down and it fits snug. light is a g2x same size but poly instead of metal.

Vltor CK requires some added around the light. It will hold tight until shot a lot. Once the knurling wears down it is worse. I used thin rubber to help.

Try getting a real weapon light first. The 6PX was not designed to be used as a weaponlight, SureFire even warns against this. Get a 6PL and try again.

hhhmmm looked through Surefire... Found nothing concerning 6P* not being a weapon light. BUT, I did find this!

"Not for weapon-mounted applications" is written on the back of the package.

No, "Greedvertising".  They want you to spend more money.

I have the 6PX Tactical with the vtac mount and it works great.  I have several buddies, both LE and Military that use the 6PX and G2X lights with the same or similar mounts (DD offset and Larue standard and offset) and love them.  You get a solid weapon mounted light with the Surefire quality but without the huge price tag.  I bought mine on the recommendation of a SWAT friend in the local sheriff's dept who is on the entry team for high risk warrants.  His patrol rifle gets used and abused and he has never had the light fail.  I bought the vtac mount based on feedback in the forums.  I am VERY happy with both.

Just my $.02, for what it's worth.

SureFire may not warranty your broken 6PX when you tell them it was being used as a weapon light against their recommendation. Get a real weapon light. Even a G2 LED is better.

I carry a G2 LED on my duty belt.  I like the nitrolon finish better if I have sweaty or wet hands.  As far as I can tell, the only difference between my G2 LED and the 6PX is the aluminium body and the 6PX is noticeably brighter and covers a significantly larger area, which is why I mounted it on my patrol rifle.  I was planning on getting another G2 LED before the 6PX was recommended.  My rifle get's very little "duty" use but it has been through the ringer in training and the 6PX has not failed me yet.

As for warranty, most of the guys in my dept use Surefire lights with a few Streamlights thrown in and I don't know anyone who has ever had an issue with either company honoring their warranty.  Actually, I can only think of 3 or 4 lights that have ever been returned and they were damaged during "criminal altercations" and all were still replaced free of charge.

The originator of the thread was asking about the 6PX light and I gave my honest opinion based on my experience.  You obviously have a differing opinion based on your experiences and I welcome that.  I have learned a lot from the experiences others have shared on these forums.  I would be curious to know what negative experience you had with the 6PX that formed your opinion.  Like I said, my patrol rifle doesn't get used on duty much but when I need it, I NEED it.  If you have experienced failures with the 6PX in a weapon mounted configuration, please share them.  I am not opposed to finding a better way to do things, especially if they are based on real world experience.
