| I just picked up a "weapon" light from Cheaper Than Dirt today. Has anybody had any experience with these? Appears to be a Chinese copy of 6P. Decently built but I have never had any Surefires I was wondering how it compares. Although advertised as a shotgun light it doesn't appear to have any shock proofing done to it. They had other avialible as well but were sold out of the 2 cell. I figured what the heck for $29.95 I'd take a look. |
| No it looks just like a Surefire. It's in their catalog on page 25 LOW-614 $29.95 "Shotgun Light" I believe its like the LEG-245 2 cell light but does not come with a case. It's a new item that I have not seen on their web site. I believe it may take some of the same accessorires as the 6P but I have never had one to compare. |
| That light may be a replica made for airsofters. I have seen ads for a company called G&P (no idea what that stands for) that makes replicas of surefirelights including the 900 series. They even use the regular surefire lamps so I assume the output should be very similar. The big differences would have to be in attention to detail and finish. |
| Where could I have gotten one for that? I would not be against getting another. I had an opportunity to compare it to a real surefire today. The bulb appeared to be interchangable. The tail cap interchanges but the sure fire metal button was too large to interchange. The head of the Chinese one was just slightly smaller but I bet the surefire filters would work. The quality of the light is decent I would attribute the cheap Chinese labor as the main reason for the price. I like its button assembly better than the sure fires it is easier to use due to rougher texturing on it surface. The head also has a provision for the filters that come with it.My only complaint is the knurling on the body is not deep enough and it causes it to be smooth and slippery. |
