I hate to sound like a here, but I don't really understand what it does or what it is used for.  I read the description on the Surefire website but I need someone translate the lingo a little bit.

I'm thinking that you need night vision goggles or scope to utilize its use correct?

That is correct sir, IR lenses only allow the light to be visible through NVG's. Very handy if you are being stealthy

Thanks man, that what I was thinking.  I'll probably keep it on my Surefire just for a lens protector....LOL

SureFire's IR BeamFilters are very high quality and correspondingly expensive - you may find the one you have is more expensive then the bezel you are using it to protect!
(also, IR BeamFilters only really work for incandescent light - not LED light).
You may find you can sell or trade your IR BeamFilter for something you'd actually find useful/need...
