I'm thinking about buying a Surefire L2 however I am worried that it is too long for everyday carry.

If anyone here owns one, I would appreciate your opinion.  I won't be mounting it on my AR, i'll be using it for carry.

Thanks

I keep trying to find a better all around light than the L2, but for now, I have given up. Super bright on high, yet used for a majority of the time on low. I have had it for a year and have not changed the batteries yet. It is not too long for a pocket, but I did like the shorter length of the L4 before I sold it.

The L2 is the best and most appropriate flashlight I have yet found for use as my EDC.

The length of the L2 is key to its ergonomics for me. It is far more comfortable to hold and use compared to shorter flashlights such as the L4.
Additionally, the length of the L2 makes it ride clipped inside my pocket far more securely and doesn't tend to get caught or snagged as much.

I must use it a long more since I change batteries ever week or so, sometimes more often...

The only think the L2 lacks in my opinion is beam throw - it is a floodlight. The Kroma comes close to offering a better beam but it doesn't have the high output like the L2.

If I had to start over with no flashlights I would purchase:

L2
M6
A2

in that order.

You won't regret it.  I carry it around all day long without any problem.
