US made cans or Chinese cans?

Chinese made cans:
Walmart 50 cal - $8.97 The last time I went there, also available online.
Tractor Supply (as mentioned already) 50 cal - $10.00 IIRC
Costco 30 cal and 50 cal combo set - $18.99, though they regularly drop them to $14.99.

The only decent price I've seen or heard of on US made cans lately was my son saying that he saw brand new 50 cal cans at AAFES for $12.99. So if you're military, that's an option. Otherwise keep watching places like Palmetto or Midway for sales coupled with free shipping.

I guarantee you those ones he saw at the exchange are the same Chinese ones sold at WalMart and the like. No way the exchange would sell real ones; if you're cought taking them from the range, etc. you're going to get ninja punched for stealing government property. They very carefully paint over the markings and turn them back in with the spent brass. The military wouldn't let the exchange sell something like that.

Brownell's has US made cans for $17.99 each. You can get 6 shipped for $97.94 if you use coupn code M3P for $10 off $99 + free shipping. Not great, but a little over $16 ea shipped is better than anything else I can find for new ones right now.

He sent me a picture of them. They were brand new, stacked up on the floor. I asked if they were made in the US or China and he said the US, though he may have assumed they were.

ETA: Ok, I enlarged the picture he sent and it was from C-A-L Ranch Stores and not AAFES, my apologizes. Apparently I'm guilty of assuming also. I looked it up on their website and it doesn't mention Country of Origin, so it may very well be imported.

My Tractor Supply had the 50's on clearance for $7.99.  I have too many already, some US made, some Chinese.  There is no difference in the 2 cans

Check your area for Army Navy surplus stores. When I lived in Ogden, UT there was a place that had mounds, piles, pallets of them in there back lot. The nicer ones were in the store. Their usually pretty cheap when there's large quantity, especially around large military bases. Good luck.

I went to a surpluse store and the cans there were dirty and rusty, which he labeled as 8/10 condition. Lol.

Surplus Condition Grading.   It while showing some field use it only has one through to through bullet hole in it, and the rust only ate up the bottom of the can...   8/10

Have you guys heard of Blackhwak ammo cans? Luckygunner says they sell the same cans to civvies as they do the mil. And they are made in the USA.

Blackhawk DOD spec cans

ETA: I FENT on four cans.

I un-FENT. Sounds like these ammo cans have some
finish issues.

The Luckygunner cans, while new, appear to have some issues with the paint flaking off.

I just ordered a 4 pack of 50s from Wideners for $44 maybe a week ago, but they no longer have them for that price.
They used to be a good source for many things.

Don't waste your money on them. They look nice, but the metal is thin compared to US cans. You really have to tap on them side by side to know what I am referring to. Some say the rubber seal in the Chinese cans are inferior.

The metal is a bit thinner but still seems durable. I bought 5 of them and the quality isnt bad compared to my US made ones and miles ahead of Cabela's plastic cans.

I held one fully underwater for several minutes and it didn't leak. Seems decent for $9

Hopefully PSA has that $80 for 12 or whatever it was soon.  Anyone know if those are US made?

I am far from an expert on ammo cans, but the several I have gotten from Walmart have been fine, IMo. Give them a good looking over for defects, hold up to the light to look for pinholes in the bottom.
