Still fairly new and tried the search with no luck.

When digging through grab boxes of surplus AR mags, what  mfgs should I be looking for on the bottom plate?

Thanks

D&H, Okay, those guys.  Look for green followers.  But unless your getting kickass deals, go to Dennys Guns online (Globabl Tactical Supply) and buy some C-Products mags w/ the Magpul Gen II follower for less than 10$ a piece!  Even the green followers will fail sometimes.  I've never had a Magpul follower fail AT ALL.  Good luck.

I agree with Scotchboy.  For the low price of a new magazine ($10 to $12) with a green or Magpul follower, there is very little reason to buy used or surplus mags.

In my experience in the early to mid-80's, 30 round magazines were very susceptible to feed issues once the feed lips got dinged even slightly. Unless they were pretty new, we went for the 20 round mags - and these were by defintion not surplus.  I shudder to think how bad a mag had to get to get surplused at that time. (Reganomics, no paint on the barracks, etc.)

yep, new for 10 bucks is the way to go, if you want used, and do not own a bushmaster, i'd suggest CDNN orlites, i use them a lot and love 'em.
