So because of some unforeseen financial issues I'm gonna be selling a couple of my rifles. I'm gonna sell my Arx 100 and block II clone but I've been thinking also of getting rid of my block I upper and going with a BCM 14.5 middy with the 13 inch KMR alpha rail. The only thing that I'm worried about is the reliability with steel case ammo because that is what I have stockpiled for plinking. I'm just wonder how it works for you all and do you think I need to get a lighter weight bcg and a carbine buffer I'm currently running a BCM bcg with a H buffer. Thank you

Anybody's opinion would be helpful

My older 14.5" midlength from BCM runs fine with steel case, at most you might have to swap in a carbine buffer. I can't speak for other guns, but the one I have runs no matter what I do to it. Only time I ever made it choke was with a coating of sand, an H2 buffer, and a springco red. I was curious to see what it would do.

Qualifying statement: I haven't shot it a ton with steel case, but I did shoot about 100 rounds to make sure it would run using junk ammo. I usually shoot brass cased ammo.

My BCM 14.5" mid won't run steel. I knew that it probably wouldn't based on the fact that they tell you to feed it good 5.56 pressure ammo. Some people say theirs runs steel just fine. My BCM 16" mid runs it with the added dwell time. So don't be disappointed if you need to buy the better brass, or the other option may be step up to 16".

Play with the gas system and buffer weights and you'll be able to tune it.  An adjustable gas block might be what your missing.......

I'm running an A2 fsb. The rifle has failed to run reliably even with a standard carbine buffer. Not a big deal as I read the fine print before the purchase. It shoots 5.56 with an H2 like a dream.
