I just bought one of these.  I'm going to mount it on a Colt 6721 upper.

I know nothing about these things except that they're cool;  do you sight it in like a scope (taking off the caps etc) and what does internal adjustment mean?

What beginning range should I sight it in at?

Any peculair bugs these have I should know about?

Thanks.....

when I sighted mine in, I sighted the second stadia line (200 yd mark) at 50 yards.. if you are dead on at 50, you will be dead on at 200, using the 2nd line down.

I believe that the bullet drop lines are measured based upon a 100 yard zero.  I zero'd mine at 50 anyway.  And yes, it is just like any other scope.  Pull the caps off and adjust it with a screwdriver.  Just make sure to screw the caps back on tight so that the watertight seal works.

Here are the USAF 25 Meter M4/TA01NSN sighting instructions, complete with printable target.

Seemed to work for me, but I drink enough coffee that 'accuracy' is just another word I can't spell... (ETA: OK, I got lucky this time! )

I have a friend who says these are the worst of the acog world and too stay away and buy a better, much newer model as these are all very old, 80's technology.  Is he crazy?

Yes, he's crazy. The 'newer' models offer BAC. The NSN offers a finer reticle along with a set of iron  night sights. Nothing craptastic about the TA01NSN.

(ETA: IMHO, of course.)
