Has anyone had any experience with the TAP 62 barrier?  I thought Molon was supposed to do a test, but not sure.  I may be mistaken on that.  Other than that is there any feedback on the accuracy, performance, or construction?  I am really interested in it for a hunting/HD/SD type round, and am able to get some for a decent price.  Thanks for any input.  9080

Sorry Molon, not trying to rush you!!!!  Just thought I may have missed it.  Do you have any pre thoughts or knowledge on this round?  Now go do work son.  Thanks, 9080

We need to move you to a warmer weather state, Molon.  You're somewhere up here in the frozen North, aren't you?  The weather wreaks havoc on your testing...

I shot a few hundred rounds through my MSAR, it ran well. Don't have any accuracy data for you, you'll have to wait on Molon, but I don't remember having any specific complaints in that department.

Oddly, it seems to be a good performer in every application except some barriers, autoglass being the biggest problem IIRC. It's a non-bonded softpoint.

There is a lot of exposed lead at the meplat of this projectile and as noted above, it is not a bonded bullet.  The claimed velocity of 3041 fps is at the bottom end of what most think of for a 62 grain NATO pressure load.

5.56 62 grain TAP barrier . . .

. . . compared to bonded Fusion and Gold Dot bullets.

From what I was told by a lady @ Hornady, it was a non bonded bullet, but has "an extremely thick jacket to aid in controlled expansion".  She also went on to say that it was developed for nuclear power plants I believe.  So, that said, I"m not sure what to make of it.  Now I am really confused to be honest.

Molon, I live in Houston.  I was wearing shorts today on a nice 72 degree day.  I have a 3000 sq. ft. home, and live alone.  I will consider letting you use one of my rooms for the winter, for some ammo in trade.  I have a range 5 minutes from my house.  Please call to discuss details!    9080, chillin in the sun.

Think they kept the pressure / velocity down to remedy a jacket seperation issue or is this a non issue regardless of another 100fps or so??
I have yet to get the Fusion bullets to do anything but lightly fragment on hard objects and have been very happy with the results.
This was a round i started using shortly after you tested it and found my results to be very spot on to your recomendations. Thanks again for all your data.
I think the pigs on my property have a price on your head though.
