I own an TR 21 and a 2x compact ACOG and like them both a lot.  But I have been wondering this for a while - what niche does the TA-55 fit for application?  Is is intended for something SPRish?  It's pretty big dimensionally, so it seems like it was maybe developed with a particular application in mind.  Anyone who has one care to share what you mount it on and how you use it?

IT'S A CLUB YOU CAN USE AS A SCOPE.

I MEAN ... IT'S A SCOPE YOU CAN USE AS A CLUB.

IT'S A GREAT SCOPE, IF YOU DO NOT MIND IT BEING CLUB-LIKE AND RATHER HEAVY. VERY BRIGHT WITH HUGE FIELD OF VIEW.

I have a TA55 which Trijicon is converting to the TA55A reticle.

The TA55 is incredibly bright, clear, detailed, excellent contrast & color, and when you use one it's hard to believe it's only 5.5X.
Plus, with the very bright & detailed image, BAC works really really well with it, as the additional magnification easily blurs the magnified eye when you're moving the rifle from target to target.
And at night, well it's the best thing going short of my D-760.

I'm not even sure what I'm going to use it on, maybe an AR10, but it'll be a pretty good match to .556 75gr loads out of something like a MSTN 20" Super-Sam from WES (within MOA to over 900 (!!!) yards).

And here's a photo of it on my 14.5 Afgan before I mounted the current TA31F.
Easily the best club out of all current scope offerings.

Edwin,
Thanks for the pic.  Man that is one big ACOG - the Trijicon website just does not do the size of that scope justice.  Oddly, I am drawn to this optic more and more...  What is a TA-55A?  An amber reticle?  If so, what did that option run you if you don't mind me asking?

The TA55A is the same scope with the reticle set up for the 175gr .308 round with ballistic coefficient of .505 at 2651fps all the way to 1200 meters.

And it's $290 to rebuild the scope with this reticle.
