Yes.  The owner died in the 1990s and the company is defunct.  I've looked it up but can't find the details right now.

I loaed abunch of M193 that I put on THERMOLD STIPPERS man are they alot better than the regular USGI metal ones?

Very easy to load compared to the USGI.

I better just Keep my 2 Thermold Loaders and strippers

I wonder what happened to all the tooling to make them?

I like the 30-rounders I have. They are the US made, not the Canadians. They are made from Zytel which is strong and can take the heat just fine. But what I really like are the 6 20-rounders I bought 4 or 5 years back. They are very reliable and stand up to use very well.

The recent 30 round THERMOLD-TYPE that are out there are garbage by comparison. They don't feed well and they won't engage the bolt hold-open after the last round. The 4 I bought a couple of months ago from CMMG might as well be used as door stops.

Thanks for the info

I like the OLD COLT 20`S w/ metal Followers best

I think Thermolds are just as good as USGI 30`s

I have both!

PLUS I moved from IND to HOT SW FLA so cold aint a issue!

I also think the canadian types are good as well

FMJ you'll find that Thermolds are much cooler to the touch when left out in the hot sun than USGI mags when at the range!

yeah that would be true

My barrel gets HOT without fireing a single round?

The Promag Pollys look like Thermolds, did Promag pick up where Thermold left off and add there usual high quality? (sarcasim off)

Well I don't know if the Thermold-type I bought are Promag or not. I asked but got no reply from vendor.

I will say that the issue appears to be a crappy follower. It's a very soft plastic so it bends under stess causing feed issues and it isn't formed properly to engage the bolt hold-open. USGI followers don't fit, I tried a bunch of leftover green ones from my USGI mags with no luck. They may work with some light sanding or dremmel work in a couple of areas of the follower. Not sure they are worth the effort.

Material and finish quality on the mag body seem to be about the same as a real Thermold, though.

Well then mine are Promag!

I was able to Dremmel a green folower to fit and probably function in the Thermold-Type but it is way more work than it's worth and the bolt hold-open still doesn't work. The postion of the rear of the mag is just not correct and comes up short and misses the hold-open latch.

Like I said in an earlier post, DOOR STOPS! I'm glad I have a lot of doors.

If you're asking what "DD" is, US Thermolds are marked "Thermold D & D Inc. Wilson, NC U.S.A."

I, too would love to know what happened to the original  tooling.....the REAL tooling.  I doubt ProMag has it.
