I hear ya'...., but there's some good  reasons  behind all the noise!

Alot of us are ust plain tired of cleaning Carrier groups, uppers & mags!!

This kit is working out awesome in that regard......, no more gunk!!

And If our boys in Special forces are using Piston uppers on their M4's...., or so rumor has it....., that's a big plus in my book!!

If you think you need a piston on a 14.5" or 16" unsuppressed upper with a carbine-length gas system, go ahead and buy one. I'd rather not waste my money, gas tubes have been working for decades. I don't mind cleaning and lubing up my rifles, and there is no way I could even carry enough full mags to actually foul up my upper with carbon.

Other people have tried it. And before you start singing their praises you might want to pop open your lower and have a look-see in the buffer tube. All the metal shavings in your lower? It's not supposed to look like that. That's your gun coming apart.

Photo of the guerilla gunsmith's lower after less than 1000 rounds. Carrier tilt is a bummer, man.

But, this is America as you so eloquently put, and if you're happy with your gun then I'm happy.

Double yawn.  DI AR-15 works for me.  I don't mind cleaning it when I need to and it isn't a pain at all.  I would have bought a piston upper just for the novelty of it if I didn't miss the sale at Bushmaster the other month.

Mine has 600+ rounds through it!   I don't have any wear like that what so ever from "Carrier Tilt" or anything else on my Buffer Tube or Upper Receiver!!

Was "guerilla gunsmith's"  a TNW "Long Stroke" or one of the "short stroke" systems?
apparently there is a substancial difference in impact to the carrier!

For what it's worth......,  I found this post in my search:

I decided to email TNW about any issues with carrier tilt, as this does exist with some other kit's on the martket. Here is their reply;

Thank you for your email.
We have not seen any "carrier tilt". I have heard about this from a caller last week. We have checked the test guns and do not see any wear on the bottom of the lower receiver near the buffer or in the roof of the upper. A lot of our rounds tested have been in an M16-A1. What were are you seeing? Our design is based on an acceleration curve over a longer time period. I would assume that if you put a lot of "torque" pressure on the bolt as it transitions the "gap" then there will be adverse wear. The long stroke design does not hammer the bolt open. Our configuration accelerates the bolt over a long distance in order to give it a velocity great enough for the bold hold back to catch on the last round. There is no need to impart any more energy on the system than that.
We look forward to hearing from you.

That's kind of what I thought....., for $250 I figured I'd give it a try!

So far so good......, but I'll keep checking for Carrier Tilt wear and any other issues!

It'll be a few thusand rounds down the road with no issues before I'll be completely sold on it!
