I was at the range today, sighting in my rifle and then attempting a cowitness, when I switched to the T-1 I shot once the dot went out... Turned it off popped the battery out, replaced it with a new one, started shooting again after 2 shots it went out again, this is about the 5th time it has done this, in fact I have never went through more than 3 rounds without the dot turning off... WTF is wrong with my aimpoint?

Did you really tighten down the battery cap?  Try that, and if it doesn't work give Aimpoint a ring.  They'll square you away ASAP.

To the best of my knowledge if I tightened any tighter I would have stripped the rings of the plastic cap, May try it again next weekend but just wanted to see if anyone had the same issues.

+1 to a loose battery cap.  This has been mentioned before... many times!

if you have the KAC battery cap you need to have a extra battery in there or else it will do this.

The cap is aluminum actually, and it always SEEMS like it its "tight enough" but usually can go a bit tighter.

I usually use a quarter or something large that you get a large gripping surface and wont mar the cutout in the battery cap.

First make sure the battery is snapped in all the way, its a very tight fit but the little prongs should snap over top of the rim of the battery. Then turn the sight all the way ON to max brightness, then start tightening the cap on, you should be able to get a lot of torque with the rheostat bottomed out, and keep turning the cap till it WONT physically turn anymore. The rubber gasket puts a huge amount of friction in the cap, and its actually very difficult to turn the last half turn or so, but since the threads are very course A: it wont hurt it to put some pressure on it and B: even a half turn can make a lot of difference in putting pressure on the battery
