Interested in the TA33.. Not sure which reticle is the one to go for.  The ballistic horseshoe with the dot in the center.. what is the MOA of the dot that is in the center?  What other choices are effective and or better and why?

I got a TA-33 with the green horseshoe reticle a few weeks ago.    My first ACOG (I have Aimpoints and an EOTech).   I believe the middle dot is 2 MOA.   I have it mounted on a 20" bbl flat-top AR.   The green horse shoe really pops out at you and is easy to see when using the Binden Aiming Concept.

I couple weeks later I got a TA-44S (1.5 x 16 short) with the red circle / dot for an SBR.

I actually like the TA-44S better.  My eyesight is still pretty good so I'm finding I can aim the TA-44S at longer ranges just as well as the higher magnified TA-33 and the TA-44S has a much larger field of view that makes it easy to pick up targets.  It's cute as hell too.  It's a little baby ACOG and feels about as light as a feather.

The big difference I notice between the ACOG and EOTech / Aimpoint (aside from magnification of course) is the dot/reticle is so beautifully crisp and sharp on the ACOG when it's against the target, just do to the nature of how the reticle is rendered.   The ACOG dot has great contrast and lets you take a very fine aim.

Then after playing with my ACOGs, I picked up my EOTech and was blown away by the open field of view of the EOTech and faster close distance aiming.

I can confirm that the dot in the center of the horse shoe is 2moa or darn close. An excellent reticle in my opinion. I have made sub 1moa (100yds, 5 shots) groups with that scope.

Yep, the TA33 with green horseshoe is my go to.  I'm even comfortable with it enough I may be moving it from my 16" to my 12.5" SBR, for HD and coyotes and getting a variable for the 16".  Its a damn quick scope with great qualities for some distance.

I have a TA-11 and love it. Its bigger but has the best eye relief in the ACOG line up.
Red horseshoe of death is just about perfect.
