Is there only one size?  Or do some stocks require a smaller spring?

I'm putting on a collapsible stock (carbine buffer system) on a new lower..

The spring seems so tight, the takedown pin won't release.

The pin is new, so is the detent, with finger pressure (no stock on), if the spring is sticking out the lower by 1/4" or so, it works fine.. with the stock on.. no go.

Thanks, Dave

One size! I've see the detents with too sharp of a point to release easily. Also, if the metal on the detent is too soft it can cause the same problem. SOME builders will cut a couple of coils off to make it easier, IMHO not a good idea..

Thanks.. ok. I think I have the right spring.. it's 1 1/16" long.

I tried a new takedown pin, and a new detent. no change.

Do the stocks generally have a space in them to take up some of the extra spring preasure or something?

I'm missing something.

No, the stock compresses the spring to where it's even with the back of the receiver.
