I just cancelled an existing order with Sable Co. for an L91 9-volt weapons light in order to get an M962SU06 light. The light is going to be mounted to an Advanced Armanent Corp accessory rail (like the GGG UFIR rail) mounted, of course, at the 6 o'clock position. I plan to put the light as far foward as it can go, but since I've never had a light system I didn't quite know what length tape switch to get. BTW, the tape switch will be mounted on the handguard using a bicycle inner tube (thanks to AR15.com on that one). So, do you guys think that a six inch tape switch is too long? The MU series 9-volt light seems kinda long. I was gonna go with a 5", but Donnie convinced me to get the 6" One last thing, here's the link to AAC's website. Which rail should I get? The full-length one (to have a sturdier platform) or the mini rail? Look in "Products" then under "AR15/M16 Accessories." BTW, the rifle in question is a DISSIPATOR, so it uses the full length handguards. And, no, I will not being using a forward grip. If the RIFLE LENGTH SIR ever sees the light of day (no pun intended), then I will probably get a forward grip. www.advanced-armament.com/ |
| If you don't plan on mounting anything else, just get the short one. I'm not sure if the AAC has vent holes in it, the Falcon one I have does not. If so, the cooling ability will be decreased. With the longer guards, you should be fine, the bands can keep the switch secured. Besides, you will have the light closer to the front and you can adjust the switch to your liking. |
