| Is anyone using a Target Master .22 conversion kit for your bolt in a .22 dedicated AR platform. If so what barrel / collar combination are you using? |
|
The target master bolt is not too bad. the rails need to be re-welded, the firing pin is not the greatest (no factory firing pin is very good IMHO). The chamber adpaters, well, I've never used the chamber adaptor so i can't comment on those, but if you are building a dedicated upper you wont use that anyways.
FYI....I'll have a new recoil spring in a couple weeks that won;t weaken up after use. Can't believe that people have not actually ever engineered that. Nah, I take that back....I was not suprised. Tim |

This is all on what I figured. I was just trying to get feed back on the unit. After I built 2 dedicated .22 ar's a friend wants to do the same and was looking at other alternatives for the conversion kit. I have one CMMG Conversion kit already and have the parts enroute to complete another CMMG conversion kit. Saved probably $40 going that route. Yeah thats right I had to purchase the parts to make a complete one. With all the craziness going on no the CMMG kits are no where to be found new and people are expecting way to much for there used stuff.
At Tim from TACCOM. I recieved the colar the other day. Thanks alot, love the 4 inch barrel.. I'm sure I'll be picking up a couple of the springs to. TACCOM makes some great products and Tim is great dealing with. |

I tested for Target Master a couple years ago. The bolts I received weren't bad but did have
issues with live round extraction. A TM bolt was used in one of the most accurate 22's I've ever fired. A 16", M4, barrel by Clint Beyer. That being said, I suggested a few updates but they fell on Deaf Ears so we parted ways. The CMMG Bolt is the current standard IMHO, especially in Stainless Steel. With the addition of Tim's TACCOM3G Accessories it's unbeatable. Dave in Florida |

I have 2 Tm kits and have no problems with them... I wouldn't say they are anywhere close to the same fit/finish level as CMMG, but the price was right. The springs for the firing pin and extractor are a joke... The just cut a longer spring down to the correct length! I would recommend replacement with CMMG springs. They STILL don't have live round extraction and the firing pin wasn't the smoothest; I fixed both of these issues the first day I had them. Chuck the firing pin in a drillpress and smooth and polish it, and carefully use a file to reprofile the extractor cut in the chamber adapter so the extractor can grab the live rounds. I've had ZERo issues related to the kits now; my only continuing problems are occasional duds from the Rem-Golden bullets. If the live round extraction mod is too much for you, the CMMG chamber adapters will fit and give you that feature... Bottomline: Would I buy them if CMMG was available for similar prices? NO. However since CMMG kits are a long ways out on backorder and the Tm kits pop in & out of stock direct for about $150.... |

Hello everyone.
I wish I would have found this before I chucked some money out the door :-( I have had 1 successful round to go off out of 2- 3 BDM clips full. The "once striked" ammo shoots fine out of my MKII pistol. Kinda frustrating and embarrassing to have my buddies laugh at me at the range because my ground up new build is completed and will fire .223 fine but this conversion bolt is preventing me from enjoying my rifle with the semi-economy of 22lr ammo. I have filed down the extractor slot for the extractor to fit properly and have roughly 1 jam in about 50 if that. My question is can some one please describe how to mill the firing pin. Do I just need to take some off of the sides where it will slide smoother? I thought it had something to do with the JP 3.5 pound springs I put in the when I built the lower. I was hoping it just needed a larger/stiffer hammer spring but after what I have read I am fearful I may have to buy two conversion bolts to be able to shoot 22lr that is a serious downer. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Will |

Anything else is just, less. |

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Will Reduced power springs are known to cause problems with 22lr conversions. Before you worry yourself to death, go ahead and pull the firing pin out and make sure there's no grit in the hole. You can also chuck the pin in a drill and polish it up; the smoother the better. I'm NOT a fan of the cheesy springs they've used and I would recommend replacement with CMMG springs. |
