I'm sure this topic is embedded in a thread somewhere, but I have a basic question. How is Teflon Coating done? Not the scientific description but the general idea. I was thinking about the DIY Refinish thread and wondered why there's no DIY Teflon Refinish thread. I have a strong assumption that it's because there's no DIY'ing that coating. So I'm curious how it's generally done. Thanks |

I believe there is a Teflon DIY thread. It is pretty easy to do. I've had great results with Norrels Moly Resin, which is Teflon. I've also used a Brownells oven bake product which I believe is also a Teflon coating. It does OK, but not as good as Norrels IMO. Plus the Brownells stinks like hell as you're spraying it. Not sure which DIY thread you are looking at, but Stickman did a very good write up on refinishing ARs and I believe mags also. ETA: If you are referring to the thread by FALARAK, that's exactly the way I did mine except instead of Permaslik I used the above mentioned products. |

True Teflon is made by DuPont company there are only a few company's that apply it to the product ( in the Firearmrs world that is) one of the companys is Iron ridge gunsmithing they use the 100% Teflon made by Dupont Co. And will coat all or most guns and mags I know the Ar mags are a pain in the ass lots of prep time and blasting but if you want give them a call and am sure they can help. good luck. www.ironridgeguns.com |
