Me and a friend have been talking and are thinking about building custom ARs with off the shelf parts with different little upgrades . Two things we have been thinking of is a rifle under 6.5 lbs and developing an upper to run 12ga rounds.  What would be the market for such a gun and would an FFL be enough to do this? My friend has been building and anodizing custom paintball gun for a few years and wants to do a little more. If anyone has any input, we would love to hear it. Also what would yall be willing to pay for either one?

I can already do a 6.5 lb rifle and would not want a 12 ga upper.

So no interest from my small sample size.

Carry on

The difference is that we want a pin on upper to run 12ga, not a clone, and what would be considered a ultra lightweight rifle?

EDIT: Some stuff my buddy has done

The only AR "new" I would be interested in is a long action caliber AR and one that accepted AK-47 or 74 magazines.

you will spend more than you will make.

you will end up with some corny name for your shop.

keep making paintball guns, or create a niche accessory that everyone has to have.

not being rude, just realistic.
