To a certain point Yes - but... (I love to do that "but") There will two issues at work here 1) Upper - Colt or FN flattop 2) Front Sight - Colt M4 or FN M16A4 1 must correspond with 2 or ensuring you are not 1 and 2 (I.E. no Armalite upper with Colt M4 gasblock - or BM Front sight with Colt/FN upper) Mixing uppers and front sight gas block will the be problem - if not the BIS's should work fine |

Very nice info! Hopefully this will get tacked soon... Also wanted to point out this rear flip-up sight that I just ran across in another thread...
Midwest Industries I don't have any experience with them, so I can't comment on them... Dave Edit: wanted to add link to original thread... www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=208465 |

Nobody mentioned, or listed, the cut carry handle(CCH)?

It's the last pic on the first post. If you have a link to a web page with instructions for cutting one, I will post it with the pic. |

I just used my new GG&G MADD BUIS on my new 16" carbine. Can't say enough good things about it. Sighted in at 50 yards and really can shoot some nice groups with it. I like the fact that both the large & small appatures are on the the same optical plane, meaning that a 50 yard zero is a 50 yard zero is a 50 yard zero. The large appature is pleanty large enough to co-witness with my Trijicon Reflex sight as well. I'm reallly glad I got this sight. And another trick I'm using is a .62" National Match front sight post. That makes a nice smaller yet crisp front post to use! The stock .90" thick post is just a little large at carbine length sight radius for me.

Sniper1az.....I have a RRA entry carbine and have the Reflex I mounted on a RX14 on the flat top receiver. What mount is your Reflex on?
|
|

How about posting which aperture pops up by default? That was the deciding factor for me between the #40, the #40A2 and the #40L, as well as the 600m plus aperture on the #40.

Awesome thread. Tagged with questions.
1.) Who makes this front flip-up sight. I found it on this page I can' say I've ever heard of adjusting for windage on a front site. Is this as unusual as I think it is? 2.) Can a front flip-up sight be mounted on a railed gas block or a FF handguard, or are there special front flip-up BUIS for mounting to the handguards? |

Front sights for gas blocks and front sights for handguards are different heights. |

Do they usually state which is which? I have seen ones that say suitable for the dove tail gas blocks, but I don't know that I've ever seen any that specifically say for the handguards. |

Yes. If you go to YHM's sight page you'll notice there are two versions of their front flip up sight. |

Does anyone have a better picture of the Ameetec rear flip-up?
|
|
|
Maybe you could distinguish which sights lock in the down position and which lock in the up position...
Not sure if you would want to mention the different heights of the standard FSBs - maybe what rear BUISs work with which fixed FSBs... Just a thought.... Spooky |

Someone was making an "A1 style" BUIS... kind of a pyramid shape... I've lost that thread it seems. In the last couple months though in the forums somewhere, I'd like to find the info on it again, and it deserves mention in this FAQ.

Did this chart ever get updated? I was curious to compare folded heights. I've got a Trijicon Accupoint 3X9 in an Armalite One-Piece Mount that I want to be sure clears the BUIS that I've yet to choose! |

Thanks again for the reference thread.
Down to between the Troy and Yankee Hill flip up rear sights, both of which appear to have dual apperatures. As live in a basic BUIS desert in Indiana and have order sight unseen, appreicate any inputs online or off of the relative merits of the two. Thanks John |

The Young Mfg looks identical to the Les Baer... is there a functional, mechanical and/or quality difference? Aside from about $100 on the price it doesn't look any different. Do they have their own web site or are there other distributors that might have better images of it to compare it to the Les Baer? |

So does anyone else sell the Young Mfg front sight? Or did they stop distributing them under their name and give Les Baer exclusive sales of them and the right to amp the price on them? |
