| Should I trade my Thermold mags for USGI, the USGI seem to work and fit better in my rifle. I am thinking about using them as trading fodder. |

I've had zero problems with my Thermolds in the ARs into which they fit without modification. But they don't fit into all my ARs & I'm not interested in grinding on them, so I've been phasing them out in favor of USGIs exclusively. YMMV. As noted above, if they work in your ARs then relegate them to range use as you add USGIs to your kit. |
That's what I do. Thermolds for play, and USGI for SHTF/ Storage/ Lusting Over!. BTW...I know a lot of guys knock Thermolds, but I have never had a failure of any kind with them, and they drop out of my Bushy Lower with no problem. I also have kept them fully loaded for 5 years and they have no signs of splitting. YMMV Tack |

I bought 6 Thermolds (US manufactured) back in '94 when the AWB was inacted. I did have to file and sand the excess material off of the feed lips. After that they have worked perfectly in my Colt and Bushmaster. I still use them to this day. Only for range work and I abuse the heck out of them but I have not been able to break them. As long as they keep working, I will keep using them. With USGI mags now currently available I would not bother to buy any more of them unless I found them for $5 or less each. I don't see much point in buying any at the same price as a USGI mag. If they are working in your rifle you may as well keep them. If you are not happy with them, then there is no reason not to trade them for USGI mags. |

Ha. I have always used my USGI for plinking at the range, and my Thermolds for SHTF/strategic war reserve I purchased bunches of them at a Soldier of Fortune convention some ten years ago. They were practically giving them away for about $5 a piece. Bought quite a few of the 20 rounders, also. |
