I have a colt comp/target h-bar. The barrel is not threaded nor does it have a flash hider. I want a flash hider. The gun is stock and shoots sub MOA with most any type of ammo––55 grain.

Question–– Should I change to a different threaded barrel and hider or thread the stock barrel or use one of the adaptors that has set screws or a hider with set screws? The set screw method is cheap and easy, but my least favorite thought.

Thanks for your input, SSC

forget the set screw method.

have you barrel threated...if done correctly the FH wont affect the accuracy.
ADCO Firearms can do it.

Ive done a bunch of them. If it was mine I would thread it. Accuracy wont be affected at all.

Amen. I tried this on one of my AKs. I got the thing on as tight as it would go. About halfway through a mag, I saw a huge hole in the target. I looked at the end of the barrel and it was gone. Found it embedded in the berm with a bullet strike so bad that I could not separate the slant brake from the adapter. Lucky I did not hurt myself or destroy my rifle.

Get it threaded. Just make sure it is done concentric to the bore.
