I am looking for an opinion/experiences about shooting with a thread protector on a threaded barrel. I shoot in NJ which is still a ban state. I see ADCO sells a thread protector for the muzzle and wonder if I am better off with this option than a muzzle brake. It would need to be pinned and welded of course as well. Anyone know if this is legal in NJ? |
i had the exact same issue, and i solved it the exact same way. when denny (GTS) introduced his 16" SS RECON barrel i was hooked. i called him up and he explained that all of the WOA barrels he had were already threaded and it would possibly be months before he could get a non-threaded barrel. i bought a thread protector from ADCO, sent it to denny, and he machined the thread protector to the exact (i mean EXACT) dimension of the barrel, pinned and welded it, and then KG coated the whole barrel in coyote. a year and a half later, with 2K rounds down that tube, you would be hard pressed to even find the seam. see archive.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=231558 ar-jedi ![]() ![]() ![]()
