Do the dimensions of the AR barrel threads--the design standard--exist as public data?  If so, does anyone know of a website?

Thanks,
John.

The barrel is turned down to 1/2" and threaded 1/2"-28.  The only thing I'm not positive is how much is actually threaded.  It's about 1/2", but that isn't exact.

Thanks, Troy.

I'm hoping to get a drawing.  I'm looking for dimensions and tolerances...the perpendicularity of the washer seat with the bore; straightness and position of the threads; etc..

Lots of info here on-site: www.ar15.com/content/manuals/, perhaps what your looking for is there.

injun,

I'm currently fighting with my scanner to burn you a copy of the print. No dice yet. I'll keep trying.

Most barrels are threaded .605 from the muzzle back with a .020undercut at the end of the threads for an overall of .625

That print doesn't quite jibe with the GI print in at least one readily visible area. The section under the handguards should be slightly tapered. .64 is close to the mean OD.

OK, finally got my scanner working again. Never buy a Plustek scanner, the software sucks. Finally had to edit the .ini file for their "action manager" to get it to load. POS.

Here's the pertinent portion of the GI print. Apologies for the size, wanted to keep the writing legible.

I know the print refers to "view" such and such but it's a two page print and I have both pages and those detailed views are not shown. Dunno if they're left over from older versions or maybe refer to another non consecutive print.

M4,

Thanks for the prints, they look good.
