Does the timing of the Phantom matter??

I recently received an upper and it has an original Phantom perm attached.  The flats are timed perfectly, but the holes are a bit off.  I mean they are at 12:30, 3:30, 6:30, 9:30.  Most Phantoms I have seen are timed with the holes @ 1:30, 4:30 etc., and have the sold parts at 12, 3, 6, 9.

I am not concerned about looks, just how it will function.  Seems that if blast exits equally it wont matter where the holes are, but I want to be sure.

Thanks!!

Which phantom do you have? If its the original without the closed bottom it doesn't matter. If its a new style 5C1 or 5C2 the closed portion must be at the bottom.

Original, so it should not matter. (I hope...)

It won't matter as far as performance goes. You're ok.

I've noticed on a couple of the Phantoms I recently installed (5C2's) that when the ports were aligned correctly, the flats were off by a couple of degrees. So I install them so the ports are correct and disregard the flats.

Yep its fine. No timing is needed. I just installed a 5C2 today and with the timing correct the timing of the flats is perfect as well.

+1

My 5c2 is timed properly but the flats and even the YHM logo are off center when looking close... I know it's juss cosmetic but I'm glad I'm not the only one.

With the original (4port) YHM Phantom #28, there is no timing needed.
