I have a 3# timney trigger in my dpms repr 7.62x51. I have about 200 rounds through it so far, 0 malfunctions, but the trigger does have some creep, enough to annoy me to the point of trying to do something about it. The trigger has 2 adjustments, one for the sear, which is the center rear set screw with the nut on it,(i did not mess with this) the other is the front center set screw, which i decided to play with, and it adjusts the trigger pull. Now this didnt effect takeup, but it did make it less noticable at a lower setting. Without a trigger gauge to know for sure, it feels like the trigger can be set from anywhere between 1-4#s. I set it fairly low (again no trigger gauge), but my guess would be 1 1/2#s. the sear still engages fine, the saftey works, and when cocked with no saftey and dropped on the buttstock, the trigger stays cocked. So everything seems to be fine. Has anyone else done this? If so did it cause any problems, doubles or such. Thanks in advance
p.s this is only a target rig, hitting the range tommorow, any input would be appreciated. |

well, since it seems im the only kid on the block whos adjusted their timney appearently ill give my report. i decided where i wanted the trigger set, took it apart, ran the set screw for the trigger adjustment out 1 1/2 turns, dabbed some loctite on it, and ran it back in 1 1/2 turns, then reassambled the unit. While firing it functioned perfectly. i shot 20 rounds, i only had 175 grain ammo and as it turns out it my gun wouldnt accurately shoot 175 grain (3rd attempt 3 different types). So i bought some 168gr on the way back and ill give it another go in a couple days. (i know its accurate with this ammo). As far as the trigger went, it was the best its ever felt, 0 malfunctions even with the 7.62x51 ammo, and im happy as could be. Hope this helps some
Edit: I found a trigger pull gauge, its set at 25 ounces, second trip out 30 rounds 0 malfunctions. |
