I have a colt AR-15 and to want upgrade the trigger to a Timney Drop-in. It is either a short pin or large pin. Which do I order? It was strange, the girl at Midway had no idea.

It could be either.
Depends on the model and year made.
They will be either .154 or .170 dia pins. you need to measure them.
Also I would suggest getting KNS pins also for it as I has mine on my Timney like to get loose and walk out on me.

What model Colt? When did you purchase it? What are the first 3 digits of the serial number?

Get a 5/32 drill bit. If it will drop into the hole (use the shank/nonfluted end and don't force it ), your rifle is large pin.
