I just got my Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 scope and wanted to know some tips for properly installing it.

I have one of these mounts:

and it has worked fine for about 6 years. It previously housed a BSA
8-32x44 scope and when I removed the scope, it didn't have any
crush/dent marks. Since the Bushnell was almost $200, I want to know of
"proper" mounting methods.

Should I use that powder to prevent the scope from moving?

How much torque for the cap screws and should I use threadlocker?

What's a quick and dirty way of leveling the scope to prevent it from canting?

Any other helpful tips?

If it is a one piece mount, I always lap it.

Get 1.00 cold drawn steel rod
600 grit valve grinding compound
Lap it.

It eliminates some of the high spots.

Consider the Epoxy method of scope bedding. It serves the same function of lapping without permanently altering your rings and gives a 100% perfect fit and grip to your scope. I have used this method on several precision rifles setups over the years and it works great.

Mike, that video was superb.

So it looks like it isn't rocket science.
