Just curious, just what would a titanium firing pin do for me?
Are they solid titanium or just TiN coated?
Are they really worth 10 times the bucks over a steel one?
If this question has been answered before forgive me as I'm new to the site and the world of AR ownership!
Thanks

Are they solid titanium or just TiN coated? They are sold in titanium with TiN coating, titanium with Chrome plating, and Standard firing pins are also avilable with TiN coating and are easily confused with real TiN coated Titanium pins.

Are they really worth 10 times the bucks over a steel one? Nope, Not at all, Some say they are even less reliable due to how brittle they are.

Thanks

I thought they were supposed to decrease lock time but in any case I don;t believe they're worth it.

Thanks for the answers. I couldn't find anything when I had done a search. Now I'll just use the money for more ammo instead of the "fancy firing pin".

Your hammer movement defines the locktime.  This is not like the striker in a bolt gun.

Smart choice. Or put some money towards another Lower.

They are a solution looking for a problem.  Standard firing pins work just fine.

So you're suggesting a titanium hammer?

No, I am suggesting a Titanium Firing pin is a gimmick.

Steel is a better material for this application.

I get it.  The clown-face shows that I was being funny.

It sounds like we agree since in my post you quoted I said I didn't think they were worth it.

Yep, it's a gimmick.  Unless you are building a cutting-edge accuracy rig, stay away.  Definitely not for a SHTF rifle.
