I have a Colt 6920 that I dropped in a KAC M4 RAS and like it ok.

I want to keep the FSB but I am getting the itch to change something. Is there a good reason to replace the KAC with a free float rail such as the Larue 7"?

Never mind money. Is the Larue more durable, more accurate. more badass

You use a free-float if you care about accuracy beyond a couple hundred yards, or if you want to put an optic on the handguard. But the KAC rail clamps to the front handguard retainer so it's about as solid as a free-float rail anyway, POI shift is minimal at the kinds of distances you;d shoot a red-dot.

Free-floating will always help accuracy but it would be insignificant with your current set-up. Never mind the money? Build a rifle centered around a quality barrel and top it off with a quality optic.

As many have posted before: our boys have been dropping bad guys with non-free floated rifles for decades.  Enjoy.
