[ARCHIVED THREAD] - To free float or not

I am building up a rifle with a standard a2 20 inch barrel. I am debating to free float it or not. What do you guys think. 200 yards would be max for me around here.

To me, unless you're mounting a scope to your handguard, free float isn't necessary, but if money's not an issue, go for it.

As long as you don't stress the sling when you shoot (assuming the sling is mounted on the gas block), it doesn't make any difference.
I recently went through the process of modifying my ArmaLite M15A4, only to find that the free float and Giessele trigger didn't change anything. It's MY rifle, and I like it better this way, but the changes didn't enhance the function.
