How much torque are you suppossed to put on the delta ring when intalling a barrel. Is it the same amount for the nut on a float tube thanks for any answers.  Rebal-Scum

You don't put any torque on the delta ring.  The barrel nut is what holds the barrel to the upper receiver.  The delta ring holds the hand guards in place.

Sorry I meant barrel nut. I have an Oly upper that was factory assembled and I can't get the nut broke lose from the upper. I'm using the big wrench from DPMS and action block but this thing will not move. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Have you tried any penetrating type oil, let it soak.

Yes I tried oil with no luck. With the amount of pressure I'm applying with the wrench, I'm scared I'll break the receiver if I use a bar. 30 to 80 pounds, this thing is way tighter than that.

Put it in a freezer overnight.  The differential contraction of teh steel and aluminum should make removal easier.

Use anti-sieze when you re-assemble it.

Hey I'll try it. Thought about sending it back  to OLy if this doesn't work. They need to check out who ever or what ever put this thing together. I've never seen one like this.

Hey Tweak, is the book in your PDF better than the Marine Corps Technical Manual that I just bought?

My book is dated October 1984 and has the following numbers:

TM 05538C-23&P/2

and

NSN 1005-01-128-9936

Did I buy an outdated book? Does it matter? Am I being too freakishly anal retentive about this? I store my book in the plastic sleeve it came in-is this twisted?

So many questions...

The new 23&P covers the M4 and the M16A3/A4 variants. Besides that, it don't matter, the manual is really more for familiarization than anything else.
