| My Question here is can I buy a 14.5 in barreled upper reciever with out a class 3 license? I was told by a friend last night that the ban was not renewed and i could buy one. Could some one please help me. I would really like to buy an 14.5 in barreled weapon. |
No, you can have a threaded barrel, but you need to have a 16" length. A 14.5" barrel with a 1.5" Phantom or Vortex welded on would be legal. A 14.5" barrel without a permanent FS would not. |

You need to register your lower receiver as an SBR if you want to have an upper with a barrel shorter than 16" and a removeable fh. This can be done through a class 3 dealer. You CAN get a 14.5" bbl with a flash hider screwed onto the threads and perm. attached. As stated b4, the AWB didn't have to do with bbl length. It banned fh's, telestocks, and bayo lugs. ie. BBL length of a 11.5" bbl + 5.5" perm fh = 16" = legal minimum (without sbr paperwork) |
