Ok, I admit this is a total newbie question, but I'll swllow my pride and ask away. What is the difference between all the various stripped lower manufacturers? I have spent a lot of time looking around and it seems that some people like RRA lowers better (and pay more) than for Stags, which from what I gather are made by the same company. Also, I see some lowers have a teflon finish...how does that look when combines with an upper that does not have the same finish? If you get a teflon coated lower, are you locked in (looks-wise) to a teflon upper? The brand lowers I am looking at right now are MEGA, RRA, Noveske and Stag. What are the main differences, and advantages, of one over the other? Any others that I should be looking at? Thanks all. great forum here. |

I have a STAG ARMS 20inch rifle...Some people don't like the logo of a deer head, but i do. For me, it was availability of the lower receiver. My dealer had them for a good price and the deer grew on me. I am currently building a rock river 9mm carbine with a rra lower receiver. With the receivers you listed, you can't go wrong really with any of them. Its just preference. GOOD LUCK!!! ~ISherman |
POF Gen3 Billet if money is no object (just north of $300): perfect finish, ambi mag release, flared magwell, HK bullet markings (semi auto) and integral trigger guard. I have one of these on an 18" POF SPR upper. Love it! http://www.rainierarms.com/img/shop/product/fe3805cec97c6d5f5e4d0af0af442a9f.jpg I also just registered a Spikes Tactical lower with HK (Full Auto) markings as an SBR. It's a forged product, well done, but not in the same feel-n-finish league as POF. Made by LAR in Utah, bullet markings are well executed, just not quite as solid or "purty", but for $125, you very often get what you pay for. http://spikestactical.com/catalog/images/strippedlowerA%20(Small).png |
| For most users, a lower is a lower, forged or cast. My 30+ year old Sendra works just as well as any new forged lower. As lon as the pin holes are drilled in the right place, its tough to tell the difference between lowers. Its only when the lower is machined "out of spec" (whatever that is) that things go bad. |
