| I'm going to get a Nodak partial fence 80% lower for a 604 build. Then I was going to have it engraved by braceman. It's going to have all early features except for the dimpled parts. So, basically a transitional gun. What serial number range would be correct to have engraved? |

When you say transitional, are you referring to when 602 production ceased and 603, 604 began I"m assuming? Are you using a square forge upper that meets with the mag well also? |

50,000-199,999
1964-1965 US Property marked US Air Force M16 Colt's Model 604 & US Army XM16E1 Colt's Model 603. That would be my guess based on the square forge nodak upper. You can just pretend they used up a spare chrome carrier they found after theyd switched to parkd...which is not outside the realm of possibilities. |

What would be the correct years for a transitional 604? If I'm wrong someone please correct me but I would say late 64, early 65. The Colt 602 was still being made in 64 and production (I believe) for the 603 and 604 started in 1964. A very early 604 could very well be wearing dimpled takedown pins OP. Does anyone know if production for the 602 overlapped as it wound down when production started with the 604? |
