Quoted: I've seen a fair number of parked, slickside carriers with chrome gas keys over the years, but I'm not quite sure what the correct bolt would be. I found a tranny carrier at my local surplus store. Does anyone know if they came from the factory with chrome or parked bolts ? Stamped MP ? Thanks http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/halpark/DSC02034_zps083d7385.jpg Hal I think THIS website will help your carrier feel accepted. We don't judge. We accept your carrier and wish it all the best. |
| Hal - IIRC, they likely would have had a standard, parked bolt - although I am unsure as to the markings. I think MP - I have an early parked bolt somewhere I could check, but not today. Too wiped to pull everything out. The chrome keys stayed for awhile I think because they were simply using them up. Parked BCGs were, according to DeWatter's excellent 5.56 timeline, approved for used in 1965. Like everything else, I'm sure Colt just used up whatever parts they had on the shelf... |

What build do you plan to use it for? I'm trying to decide which BCG to use in a late 604 upper I recently bought. Retro black rifle says forward assist carrier for late production, but I really like the parkerized slick side like you have. Early to mid era 604 |
