When installing a flash hider with a crush washer, do you need to grease the threads or use Lock Tite?  Do you put it on dry?  Also, does the crush washer act as a lock washer to keep it from backing off.  BTW, it is an A2 flash hider and my barrel wrench has a cut out to fit so I can use my torque wrench to get it properly tightened down.

I searched every Flash Hider thread on here and no where has this been answered.

Thanks

i put just a little oil on the threads but the crush washer does keep the f/h tight.
dont use lock tite.  I fact the f/h will usually have some oil on it anyway.

I use gun oil on the threads just to retard corrosion. The crush washer does act as a lock washer when you have enough torque on it. I take a popsicle stick and put it through the vents in the A2 FH as a visual aid to get it timed right.

The popsicle stick trick is something I have never heard of. I usually try to eyeball it and get pissed if I tighten past 12 o'clock. I will usually just add a drop or two of oil to the threads before install.

I do that or use the gas tube indexer to get the 5c2s or such straight. I do it a lot for work so little things like that help when people are more picky than I, if thats possible

Thanks everyone, I am off to eat a popsicle for breakfast and when I get home from work I will twist it on.  It is going on a Bushmaster Dissipator barrel.  It has an M4 profile and that thing is light.  Pics and range report to follow.
