I had to change the topic name for people to look.  Anyway, are the aimpoint and tri-power the same in that you should mount the tri-power as far forward as you can and shoot with both eyes open?  Also, is the tri-power paralax free like the aimpoint?  And is the tube about the same size as the aimpoint?  What I mean is can you see about the same amount through the tri-power as the aimpoint? Sorry I don't know the technical terms. I also know that people don't like the tri-power so please just answer my questions if you know them and not start a big thread on how I should just get an aimpoint.  Thanks.

More questions... I have never used a Chevron before so how does it work?  It states that it is 14.4 moa tal and 16.6 moa wide.  The aimpoint is 4 moa so is the chevron just huge inside the scope since it is more than 3 times the size of the aimpoint dot?  And for CQB would you use the point of the chevron or where would you aim say 20 yards and in?

Yes, you can mount the Tripower forward as you would an Aimpoint, and shoot with both eyes open. Both TX30 and Aimpoint are 30 mm tubes. The Tripower uses a "modified" Aimpoint mount. The Tripower is supposed to be parallax free. It may be. I didn't test it the way Forest tested his Eotech in another thread. The oft-mentioned "red haze" was more prominent in my optic when the chevron wasn't centered, however.

The actual chevron reticle seemed small to me. It certainly didn't seem 3X the Aimpoint dot in size when actually looking through the optic. The optic worked fine for my "standard response" CQB- type shooting drills. The tip does allow for very precise shooting. I'm used to shooting a Reflex II with a 12 minute triangle, so the chevron was very similar.

Overall, if the Tripower hadn't suffered from a serious problem with the red haze, almost blocking out the reticle in some lighting conditions, it would be a very nice optic. The red chevron is very dim. I thought it had very poor ambient light gathering capability as compared to my Reflex II. Maybe more an issue with Red -vs- amber reticles? I'm not sure. I found I needed the battery more often then I would have expected to get a good sight picture. My Tripower also had a "ghost" reticle when I powered it up. In effect, 2 chevrons. More of an annoyance than anything else.

I wanted to like the Tripower, as I was looking for an optic to replace my Reflex II. I ended up sending it back to Trijicon for a refund, as the defects are not correctable under warranty repair. I borrowed a friend's Aimpoint to play with. Its sitting in my Tripower ARMS mount, waiting for me to get some range time. We'll see how it goes.

Wow that was a good response thanks.  I sent a lengthy email to trijicon asking about the tri-power problems but no response yet.
