Finally built my rifle.

The handguards don't really fit flush together.  One edge is recessed slightly and one is slightly raised.  It really doesn't seem to be uncomfortable but I still wish they came together more flush.

Is this common?

Its pretty common. If you keep looking you should be ably to find another pair for $10 if it bothers you.

Yep pretty common thing.

ETA: Where the hell are pics of the rest of it by the way!

Mine all fit perfectly so it can't be all that common!  (kidding)

You need to have a couple spare sets on hand anyway, just in case you decide to build another one

I have two A1 style rifles, and all of my hand guards fit perfectly.

Of course, at one point I had like TEN pairs, and took the opportunity to swap sides around until I managed to get TWO pairs that fit nicely.

It's perfectly normal, and I wouldn't worry about it nor try to do anything about it.
