| So i have a fucked up lower of mine that I milled out. The side walls are too thin, so I want to make it a .22. I have anti rotational pins so the pins don't walk out every time I touch the trigger. The problem is when I pull the trigger back, and hold it back then go to reset the hammer. When i slowly let off pressure on the trigger, the hammer instantly goes forward. This only happens a couple times. Is this safe to shoot, and how can I fix it? I'm no gunsmith by any imagination, but I don't know if the trigger pins aren't in the correct spot or the trigger is fucked up. I have a mil spec trigger in there. |

Check to make sure your disconnector spring is installed properly and the disconnector is catching the hammer while the trigger is still pulled.
Cock the trigger and hold the hammer so it doesn't strike the lower when the trigger is pulled. Still holding the trigger down, cock the hammer and it should catch on the disconnector. Animation of trigger mechanism Did you try and modify the trigger mechanism? If not, your holes may be drilled in the wrong position. I would not fire it in that condition. It could possibly multi-fire and then you might have a lot of explaining to do at the range. If you have a jig, check positioning of the trigger and hammer holes by using a drill bit through the holes. Everything should line up. |
| The most common fix for buggered up pin holes in an 80% lower is to use the KNS anti-rotation pin set, because the "bars" that go on the outside of the receiver maintain the gap between the pins. The other option would be a complete drop-in replacement unit that has side plates to hold those vital components in place. The most typical example would be a Timney. |
| The holes match up on the jig. When I hold back the trigger, and reset the hammer then release the trigger, it works perfectly fine for the first times. Then I feel the hammer jet forward with the slightest release of pressure on the trigger for one or two times at a time then it resets normally. Could this be a problem with the space where the trigger holds the hammer back? From what I can tell its a pretty small surface to hold back all of the tension. I say this, because it feels almost as if the hammer was slipping. |

Check all of your springs to make sure they are installed correctly, a backwards spring can cause all kinds of funky stuff to happen,
By the way, don't be releasing the hammer and let it bang the front wall if you don't have an upper on it, you can crack the front wall of the FCG pocket. |
| My disconnector spring is green and has one side thats larger than the other. I flipped it upside down so the larger side is up, and the same problem is happening but more frequently. I noticed that the hammer isn't connecting/ catching the disconnector. Could that be the problem, if so how do I fix it? |
