I have a Colt Socom and I swapped the grip to a Magpul that I like but there is a small gap between the grip and trigger guard AND that edge on the guard rubs into my finger.  I get blisters and it hurts (Im not a baby).  I just bought a DD rifle and it has a DD grip that is a 1 piece with the guard that works better.  My question is if I swap the trigger guard, will it solve the problem?  Id swap to a DD grip but I want a fatter grip like the magpul.

Best case for me:

Soft-ish grip
fat profile
with a finger step
no gap to the trigger guard
bigger trigger guard (rounded not flat)

What are my options?

A Magpul trigger guard will fill the gap.

This, or a rubber "gapper" to fill the space.

What is a rubber gapper?

And from the pics I see it looks like the magpul guard doesn't fix this issue.  The DD grip bc its one piece seems like the only one that does what I want.  I just wish it was bigger.

I personally went with a Seekins Precision trigger guard to resolve the exact issue described.

I used a gapper in all of my issued rifles when I was in the military.  All of my clone builds have them as well.  It's cheap and works well.  I prefer replacement trigger guards that get rid of the gap, but when they aren't an option, the gapper is the best solution going.  Electrical tape didn't work as well and I can't stand the rubbing on the knuckle.

Before I changed mine to a Magpul trigger guard I had an ear plug stuffed in it.

Forget the silly "gapper", please... just use some black silicone. Dirt cheap and easy (fill the void) as well as non permanent and nothing to remove.
Or, get an "enlarged" TG (but even many of those have a sharpish edge, such as my DOA versions), or any of the grips that have the tab that fills that void (BCM gunfighter, etc).

BCM Mod 3 grip has a little tab to fill the gap. Or the Magpul trigger guard works good.

This.  I just switched all three of mine to BCM grips because of how much more comfortable they are on my middle finger.
