I've got a problem with my cheapo Olympic Arms "Plinker" AR-15.  I've had it for two years but have only put 250 rounds through it due to a temporary move to a gun-grabbin' state.  I'm back in Michigan and have my AR back, but I've got a problem!

After firing 5-6 shots, the trigger pin moves out to the right side of the rifle.  If I don't knock it back into place every six shots or so, the gun will start "double firing," once upon firing the trigger and once upon releasing it.

I realize that might sound nifty, but it certainly isn't safe.  I bought a field repair kit last night and replaced the pin, but the replacement appears to be exactly like the original.  I haven't had a chance to try out the `fix' yet, but I have a feeling it won't do much.

I've noticed there is some `play' with the pin on the right side of the receiver, where the pin can wiggle up and down a bit.  On the left side, there is no room for the pin to move.  Is this normal, or did Olympic Arms drill the right hole too big?

If so, would a `redneck fix' of Loctite be acceptable, or would that screw something up?

I only bought this as a `toy' so I'm not worried about "combat reliability," but I still expect to be able to put more than six rounds down range at a time.  Thanks!

You can probably fix it with an anti-walk pin or a set of them for the trigger and the hammer.  The pin has like a nail head on one end and a groove that a C clip snaps into on the other side of the lower.
 Bushmaster sells them for $5.95:

There are other places that sell them too.
 Good luck.

Make sure the hammer spring isn't in upside down, it fits into a groove in the trigger pin to keep it from walking out.  I had the exact same problem you do, and my hammer spring was the culprit.

Thanks for the link!  I just ordered one, and I'm sure this will work out just fine!

I was thinking about sending the receiver back to OlyArms under their lifetime warranty, but I'd really much rather get a quick and effective fix like this that won't require me to ship my gun away for 2-4 weeks.

Thanks again!

It is either a bad trigger pin or the legs of the hammer spring is not on top of the trigger pin.

Or the lower is out of spec.
