Last night I performed the following on my stock Bushy trigger in an attempt to smooth it out and, hopefully, get rid of creep entirely:
groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/smoothenthetriggerpull.msnw

Not only did I polish the trigger pin but I also used 2000 grit paper to smooth out the sear-to-hammer contact surfaces.  It's definitely smoother now but still has a TON of creep.  I've done several 1911 tirggers before and they will break like the proverbial "thin glass rod" once the sear-to-hammer contact surfaces are smoothed out.

With the upper received removed from an AR, you can watch the trigger actually pull the hammer down slighty as you pull it, essentially "overcocking" the hammer before releasing it.  Along with a TON of tirgger travel, this leads to a semi-DAO type tigger feel.  Maybe this is a needed safeguard on a full-auto weapon but it's JUNK on a semi-auto rifle

Is this how a stock AR-15 trigger is designed to work?

My single stage and two stage triggers do the same.

I had a similar trigger situation on  Winchester 94, hammer would move as I pulled the trigger before releasing.
Gunsmith fixed it for me.
Now, I wonder if the same can be done to AR trigger. This "overcocking" is getting on my nerve too.
