I have done several ak's and this is my first ar build.  Over all it went ok but I have a problem.  If I pull the hammer back enough to engage the disconnector, the disconnector won't let go.  I have to push the disconnector down with a screw driver to release it.  at that point the hammer is still being held by the trigger and I can then pull the trigger and release the hammer.  This is a sherluck kit on an nds lower if any of that means anything.  I have double checked the guides on here and re did the hammer and trigger with the same result.  It will do it with or without PG or selector.

looking at the design I honestly can't tell why the disconnector would let go.  Seems like as you squeeze the trigger it pushes forward.

Thanks for nay advise anyone can offer.

a little more study and I think I understand the function.  Should the disconnector only be engaged if the trigger is pulled?  With trigger relased it only catches the disconnector by about .010

How do you have the disconnector spring installed? The wide base should rest within the trigger assy.

wide portion is down in the trigger

The disconector catches the hammer hook when the trigger is held to the rear (pressed). When the trigger is released, the disconector eases off the hammer hook, allowing the nose of the trigger to hold the hammer in cocked position.

The play between the disconnector passing off to the trigger should be visible. The disconnector just catches/holds the hammer cocked until you release and pull the trigger again. It should not be catching the hammer when the trigger is released.

Time to take the FCG out and re-install, something isn't right.

I have reinstalled the FCG 3 times.  The last time I scraped a screw driver along the trigger where the disconnector catches because it seemed a little burred.  Now it will release 90% of the time.  If it gets stuck I can pull the trigger and let it pop back and it will release.  I am considering running a mag through and seeing if it loosens up a bit.  I am thinking that either the FCG is out of spec or the reciever has the 2 pin holes to close to each other.  Anyone ever run into having a NDS reciever out of spec?

Take out the disconector. Look at the flat sides for wear marks, also check to see if it is flat and not bent. If you got wear marks, the part is too wide or bent.
Post some pictures please.
