I just finished a lower yesterday and was test fitting some parts in it when I discovered that I could not get the safety to rotate to safe. So I removed the components and found that the hammer was marked with 2 individual "s"  and the trigger was not. So I dug around in my spare parts and found a trigger with the same markings. I put both "s" marked components in and it worked fine. Outward appearence looked the same on all three different trigger/hammer groups I had, but apparently they are not!

So here is my question. Are not all fire control components in standard LPK's supposed to held some sort of MILSPEC? If so, how much variability can there be?

There is nothing to constrain a manufacturer in what he produces for the civilian market except sales.
Even mil-spec parts have tolerances and do not always fit well together.
