I'm trying to put together my lower. The lower build kit from PSA is great. I started to put the trigger together and the disconnector will not fit into the trigger. the inner parts of the trigger holes are scratching the hell out of the disconnector. Is this a force it in there job?? or should i lightly try to file down one of the two parts? Long time shooter, but obviously its my first build. Thanks for the help!

Trigger and disco.

Good opportunity to step up to an ALG and mebbe PSA will give you a discount for your troubles.

Email them with a quality photo of your situation.

Yep, great excuse to get a better trigger. Lots of good ones out there.

I prefer the SSA myself.

I just had this problem myself. My trigger had a burr where the disconnector slid into. Just file the inside of the slot ever so slightly and your problem is solved. Seems all lower parts kits are made by one company and shipped out so others can put their name on them. Just like everything else, you get a few bad ones.

I wish i had the keesh for a SSA. Hopefully will upgrade to the SSA later down the road. Took some pics and emailed PSA. Hopefully they get back pretty quick. Thanks for the info folks.

Sapper:  While you have the parts out, I suggest you sand the engagement surfaces with very fine sandpaper, folded over something with an acute edge.  This will smooth out the natural GI grittiness you will otherwise experience.  The papers can be 400 then 600 grit and maybe one more finer for that mirror polish.  Since you are doing it by hand, take care not to round any edges or change any angles - you are just smoothing out some tool marks.  The engagement surfaces are very small, they are the obvious bright spots.  It only takes a few minutes.  Put some grease on these surfaces once the parts are installed.  I like moly fortified grease for brake calipers, from an auto parts store.

To get the weight down to about 4.5 lbs, you'll need a set of "yellow" trigger springs by JP Rifles, about $10 from Midway.  If you are going to shoot much GI ammo, then only install the trigger and disconnector springs and retain the stronger GI hammer spring, otherwise you will get occasional misfires.  good luck - CW
