My local sporting goods shop has one of these new in the box for $600.  Is this a good deal?

It's the TA01: 4x32 Trijicon ACOG with Red Crosshair Full Illumination.

Thanks for the feedback.

Assuming it is a NIB TA01 of recent manufacture, that is a very good price.

That is an excellent price.  You will never get a new one cheaper than that.  Just make sure it is not ten years old.

I bought my TA01 in '00 for about $530 on a sales from SWFA. I'd say $600 today for a TA01 is a great price. Good advice on the age thing although I understand Trijicon can re-charge them. For a fee I presume after 12 years.

If I can get the SN is there any way for me to figure out the age?  I assume it's newer, the store is only a few years old, and when I asked the sales person to see it his comment was that they are just starting to see some of the ACOGs coming in.

Thanks for all the information.

You can see the serial number electro-penciled on the housing where the rear portion screws to the forward housing, right behind the adjustment cap.

I have a very early one with the serial number being 129.  I can still see the crosshairs in the dark.
