What optic would you recommend for 25 to 100 yard shooting.

are you looking for a magnified or redot type?

Magnified, and what is the best way to mount.

When I think ACOG, I think 100 Yards+.

I like the TA01NSN, with the Larue LT100 Mount but the Standard Thumb Screw mount will work just fine (Depends on what your looking for here).

I have a colt le6920 on the way i would like to be able to shoot out past 100 also but the primary would be 50 to 100.

take a look at the Leupold Mk4 CQT. Illuminated Circle-dot, 1-3X. AA battery

same price range as  most ACOGs

Very Nice... then the TA01NSN would do fine for your application. It would mount Directly on the top rail. The TA01NSN can be Zeroed at 100 or 25 yards using the 300 BDC line.

ETA: Not to be rude in anyway, but what Price range are you looking at here?

Compact ACOG, for the range you specified the 1.5x would work fine, though my preference is for the 3x model with the triangular reticule.

As for mount, no matter which ACOG you get the best mount is made by LaRue.  That is especially true for the Compact ACOG line.  The LaRue mount is lighter, shorter, returns to zero better, has quick detach capability and has a lower price tag than the Trijicon offering.

ACOG's kick ass.  I am waiting for my first one to come in the mail.  They are top notch, but honestly, for 50-100 yard shooting I would rather have an EOTech or Aimpoint.  ACOGs are for medium ranges IMHO.

Do the iron sight work well on the nsn and how do you like the yellow reticle versus the red.

I like the yellow at Night, it stands out very well. The irons sights do work, you just need to find the sweet spot and the front iron can be drifted for windage if needed. And later on, you could always get one of the Piggyback optics that mount on top of the NSN.

Here's a Pic MM took:

What type of upper is that?
I like the looks of this configuration and am thinking of a build really similar.
Very nice setup

How do you like the magnified sight picture for close range shooting?
I do a lot of 25 yard drills...how would this sight work for those conditions?

would the TA01 NSN scope work well with a AR rifle that has a 18in barrel ? I thought I read that the NSN is set up for the 16in barrel length

Thanks.

Close range isn't bad at all for close range. I shoot both eyes open and even though it is a Non BAC Optic, I find it very quick for me. Of course though, nothing beats the Speed of a Dotsight like the Aimpoint or EoTech. The Irons work well if you can work well with them. You just need to learn the sweet spot.

Here's some whole view Pictures. I'm thinking of changing it with the Standard A2 and regular FSB.

The TA01NSN was setup for the 14.5", but 16" doesn't make much of a difference.

This is what you need to read.

I just mounted a TA01NSN on my flat-top 20"....I know the NSN was meant for a shorter barrel but everything I've read claims the BDC is within MOA. I zeroed by shooting at 25 yards and adjusting to hit 2" low (just like in Basic Training!). Here is a picture of 5 shots at 25 yards:

:

When I moved out 100 yards it still seemed about right:

That particular range only went out to 100 yards so next week the 200 yard range gets a visit!

The only thing I didn't care for were the iron sights with the NSN were shooting 2" left and 2" low @25 yards. I think I can deal with that!
