I just purchased a Trijicon RMR (RM02) for my father in law to mount on his M&P pistol.  We have started shooting 3 gun together, and he struggles to see the front sight on his handgun.  We thought the red dot would make it easier for him to be more efficient with the handgun.

I purchased the optic from SWFA.  When I put the battery in, you can see a very faint light coming from the LED emitter, but no dot appears on the screen.  This is the LED model, and the dot intensity is not adjustable.  I have tried a second new battery, thinking the battery was the issue, but had the same result.

Anyone else have this experience?  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.  I plan to call SWFA Monday morning.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried out in the sun? I thought the brightness has something to do with the ambient light around it but I might be totally wrong

I should still be able to see a dot indoors too though right?

Make sure a piece of debris is not blocking the projection. I put tape on mine when I want to practice with the irons only.

This is mine:

I know this might seem like a weird question, but have you tried looking at it at different angles and pivoting the sight up and down? These type of red dot sights have such a small viewing window that if you are off by a couple degree, you will not see the red dot
